“Unjustified killing”, arrest of Afghan refugees by Pak police unacceptable

Pakistan authorities have long promised to stop torturing Afghan refugees and frequently committed to avoid violence against them inside their territory.

Pakistan authorities have long promised to stop torturing Afghan refugees and frequently committed to avoid violence against them inside their territory. But, despite these repeated promises, the arrest
and harassment of Afghan refugees by the police in the neighboring country, continues.
Pakistan recently resumed the arrest, torture and deportation of Afghan refugees even police killed or injured many in fresh violent incidents in the capital Islamabad.
The incident is what the Pakistan-based Islamic Emirate’s embassy confirmed and reported.
“Only within the last two weeks, many Afghans have been arrested in different areas of Pakistan, especially in and around Islamabad, while majority of them, are documented refugees. Their residences
are attacked day and night and so far up to one thousand of people, half of whom have immigration or travel documents, are arrested by the CTD police,” according to the embassy’s credible report.
Contrary to its repeated promises, Pakistani police arrested at least 1,000 Afghans during a wave of operations in different areas of that country in the past few days, while more than 480 of them, had owned the required documents, the report which the embassy confirmed, said.
The neighboring country’s police also reportedly killed a number of Afghans brutally.
Unfortunately, in addition to harassment, there have also been cases of brutal murder by the police in different parts of that country.
Scores of bodies were found in the hospital or other places after being missing for some time, reports said.
The fierce attack and torture of the Afghan refugees, has mostly gained momentum in Sindh province and in Karachi city, where many Afghans, including women and children, are taken into prisons.
Both the Islamic Emirate and the people of Afghanistan strongly condemn the brutal operation of the Pakistani police and call it against all human and neighborhood rights.
Pakistan, against all its promises and commitments, has violated the refugee’s rights and acted against the International standards for refugees.
The neighboring country’s authorities regularly politicize the issue of Afghan refugees and resort to the arrest and torture of the Afghan refugees when fail to handle a political issue between the two countries, suppress terrorist activities, or respond to growing insurgencies inside its territory.
The unjustified killing and violence against the Afghan refugees is unacceptable and the government of Pakistan should stop the ongoing persecution of the refugees, as it lays a negative impact on the
relations between the two countries.
This is also to be noted that the Afghan refugees are not involved in Pakistan’s security problems and their harassment and jailing is a cowardly act by the Pakistani security officials
