CB’s wise management reason for growing national currency’s value
Over the past several months, the value of the national currency, the Afghani, has increased with a U.S. dollar currently being exchanged for 70.8 Afghani which is an unexpected rise in the dollar rise in many world markets. Few weeks ago, a U.S. dollar was dealt with more than 90 Afghani, while the rate came down unexpectedly in the recent days. After the fall of the former government, hundreds of companies dealing with U.S. dollar left Afghanistan resulting in an eye-catching rise in the value of dollar in the country’s currency-exchange market. The rise of dollar was supposed to continue growing or at least remain at the same price against Afghani, but the prediction proved wrong and the country’s Central Bank — Da Afghanistan Bank — took the initiative stepping up towards controlling the foreign currencies’ price against the national currency. The country’s central bank offered millions of U.S. dollars for sale over the recent few months following the same deal in the last two years [After the takeover of power by the Islamic Emirate] and the plan is still continuing to help the value of the Afghani remain stable even in the recent few weeks, rise against foreign money. Besides this, the country’s Ministry of Economy called the increase in exports and crackdown on dollar trafficking one of the main reasons for the increase in the value of the national currency against other countries. Other reasons behind the rise in the Afghan currency’s value could also be counted prevention of money smuggling, transparency in the collection of taxes and agreements signed with mine extraction companies. More action should be taken; such as the prevention of dollar use and other countries’ currencies and the promotion of the national currency instead, countrywide, to help the Afghani value remain stable or rise against other currencies. Also, if we want our currency to keep its stability or rise against Afghani all transactions, including exports and imports, should be done in Afghani as well as domestic products should highly be preferred to use by the entire government agencies and the whole citizens instead of foreign imported products. This is not only a matter of government organs, but also the responsibility of the entire citizens to use domestic products to help promote and popularize both the country’s products and protect the stability of the country’s national currency. On the other hand, efforts should be made by the country’s politicians in cooperation with the Islamic countries and the international community at a whole, to exert pressure on the west to unfreeze the country’s central bank’s assets, which can positively impact on the value of the country’s national currency.
