Afghanistan is among the world’s most affected countries by climate change while the assistance to overcome the challenges has recently reduced. The country’s National Environment Protection Agency (NEPA) said in a meeting that the international assistance to counter the effects of climate change has been reduced for Afghanistan after the takeover of power by the Islamic Emirate. Addressing a gathering held in Kabul to mark the Global Climate Change Week, the head of the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) called on the international community to not politicize their assistance. Undoubtedly, the international organizations lacked cooperation with Afghanistan, regarding countering climate change effects and climate change has unfortunately affected the space of Afghanistan seriously.” Also, speaking at the same ceremony, the deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi, said that Afghanistan has been recognized as the sixth country most affected by climate change. While Afghanistan has a small role in producing greenhouse gasses but is counted as the sixth most affected country by climate change. Poor countries, like Afghanistan, are mostly, subject to greenhouse gasses and the International aid organizations should continue their aid to the Afghan vulnerable people, as the country has long been vulnerable to drought because of climate change. It has been many years since the drought began and there is no rain, the country’s agriculture, natural resources and forests are being dried out and destroyed and what the International aid agencies are going to do for reducing the effects of the climate change, is for the drought affected Afghanistan and its people, not for a certain system and its leaders. On the other hand, the Islamic Emirate’s authorities want a good interaction based on mutual interest with the world countries and demands that the assistance should be continued for the Afghans as the Islamic system will spare no effort to transparently use it in battling poverty and reducing the effects of the climate change in the country. The International community, particularly the world economic powers should resume official missions with Afghanistan under the Islamic Emirate and restart meaningful engagement with the current government leaders so that the problems of the Afghans, regarding politics and economics to be resolved.
